01 / The work

Everything, including what isn't finished.

Fifteen pieces of work since March 2026, each carrying its true state. These six lead, four of them with a case study behind the title. The rest of it holds the other nine, the migrations case study among them, labelled the same way.

02 / Capability

Six things I take on.

One person, one line of accountability. No bench, no juniors billed at my rate, no handover to somebody you have not met.

  • Prototypes, MVPs and product roadmaps. Something real enough to make a decision with, then the honest order of everything after it. The roadmap says what to build next and, more usefully, what to leave alone.
  • Bespoke website and app development. Web, iOS, watchOS and Android, built and submitted by the person who wrote it. Submission is the part that quietly eats projects: review rejections, privacy manifests, screenshots at every size, 22 locales.
  • Website and database migrations. Off the old thing and onto the new one, with the old one still serving right up to the day it stops. The count of what moved is published, because a migration that quietly loses three per cent of the content is a migration that failed. How it works.
  • AI-driven code and security reviews. A panel of four models rather than one, and only what survives the argument reaches you. A single-model review is very good at producing findings that are confident and wrong. How it works.
  • Full production systems. The whole thing, including the unglamorous half that decides whether it lasts: test harnesses, CI pipelines, localisation gates, payments, monitoring and App Store submission. Most of the cost is never the feature you asked for. How it works.
  • Training in agentic coding. For teams who want to work this way, and for the engineers in the room who are correctly suspicious of a technology that mostly arrives as marketing. The toolchain and the course are open source, so nobody has to take my word for it.
03 / Speaking

The fast part is real. It is also the least interesting part.

The problem is rarely that the leadership is unconvinced. It is that the engineers are, correctly, suspicious of a technology that mostly arrives as marketing, and no deck fixes that.

My first iPhone app took twenty-three minutes to build, and it did not work. I pasted a screenshot of the error back in and four minutes later it did. That number is genuinely astonishing and it is also the least useful thing I can tell your engineers, because twenty-seven minutes gets you a demo, and none of it gets you production. The talk is mostly about the gap between those two things.

  • What actually got faster, and what did not. The writing got dramatically faster. Tests, CI, security, localisation and iterating in production still cost what they always cost, and a talk that tells your team otherwise is selling them something.
  • You can pick the right technology now, instead of the one you already staff. The old constraint was the skills in the building. That is largely gone, and it is a bigger structural change than the speed is.
  • Open weights against closed weights, and what each actually costs. Two of the review panel's four models are Chinese. Not a political point: a panel of one vendor's models is a panel that agrees with itself.
  • The ground moves every few weeks, and that is a problem you have to staff for. Three delivery lifecycles run deliberately, where each stops working, and what context rot looks like before it bites. Half of what I show you has a shelf life, and I will say which half.
04 / Prices

Scoped, priced, delivered.

Four things here are defined tightly enough to carry a price on a public page, so they do. Fixed fee, staged payments, and the estimate risk sitting with me, not you.

MVP and roadmap

A working first version, and a written roadmap for everything after it: what to build next, what to leave alone, what the next number is likely to be. UK agencies quote £25,000 to £80,000 and spend the first fortnight writing a discovery document. There is also a five-day prototype at £6,000, roughly what an agency charges for the discovery document alone.

Six days

Code and security review
£7,500

Four models over your codebase, three arguing and the fourth ruling on what they cannot settle, and a written verdict with the false positives thrown out. Code quality as well as security posture. It is not an accredited penetration test and does not pretend to be one; if that is what you need, you need a CREST firm and I will say so.

Two days

Team training
£4,500

Two days with up to twelve engineers, hands on their own repository rather than a toy one, ending with the guard rails installed and running on real work. A single day is £2,750. Travel quoted separately, and outside the UK it is quoted before anything is agreed.

One hour, or a half day

A talk
£3,500

A conference keynote, an internal all-hands or a session for one team, with real repositories on screen. Most UK corporate bookings run £3,000 to £10,000, so this sits at the bottom of that and will not sit there forever. Remote is £2,000. Travel inside the UK is included; outside it is quoted before anything is agreed.

A fixed price on a vague brief is either padded to cover the unknowns or runs out of money halfway, and both end up being your problem. These are quoted against a written scope instead, still fixed once there is one.

The whole delivery, with your engineers alongside me so the capability does not leave when I do. Documentation is in the price, not a change request at the end.

The priced work is the front door to the quoted work, and deliberately so. A prototype, a roadmap or a review produces the document the larger quote is built from, so by the time there is a big number in front of you, both of us already know exactly what is inside it. None of it is a deposit and none of it is contingent on going further: if the roadmap says do not build this, that is what it will say, and you keep it either way.

05 / Track record

Twenty-five years before any of this.

From thirty months on what was billed at the time as the largest civilian IT programme in the world, down to four people in a shed. Retail, central and local government, healthcare, retail banking, life and pensions, supply chain, advertising and e-commerce, in the UK and across Europe, and regulated or politically loaded most of the way.

  • Thirty months on the largest civilian IT programme in the world, as it was billed at the time. Long enough to watch what happens to good engineering when the organisation around it cannot decide.
  • A thirty-person DevOps team across multiple suppliers, none of whom worked for the same company, and most of whom had a commercial reason not to agree with each other.
  • The SAP product data behind £12 billion of revenue, across six European businesses, wrapped in a workflow programme and run against data-quality targets set by a group CEO.
  • A £10m-a-year booking platform whose replacement turned into a live security rescue, which is a very different job from the one that was scoped and had to be done anyway.
  • A best-practice gap analysis across six outsourced mission-critical systems in 26 countries, where the finding nobody wanted was usually the one that mattered.
  • Before any of that, writing the code, on legacy integration in financial services and retail. That is where I learned what production actually costs, and it is why I do not believe an estimate with no operations in it.
